Art Students have access to an Arts program that encompasses many forms of art such as music, drama and arts & crafts. Each grade has an hour of 'Arts' per week built into their class program delivered by a specialist teacher. Students are encouraged to use their imaginations to create wonderful works of art, become different characters and/or delight in their own musicality. The Arts program is all encompassing and a favourite amongst many of the students.
All students have the opportunity to express their creativity through arts & crafts. Our fantastic art room with its specialist equipment and wonderful display areas is an inspriring environmnet in which students are free to create their own wonderful works of art.
On a biennial basis students will have the opportunity to participate in Wakakarri (Australia’s largest Performing Arts Event for schools).
WAKAKIRRI
Wakakirri is Australia's largest Performing Arts Event for schools with separate events for Primary and Secondary schools. Each year schools across Australia create story Dances for Wakakirri that reflect student's thoughts, ideas and aspirations. These stories are performed in professional theatres in front of the official "Wakakirri Panel" who are searching for 'Story of the Year'.
Students have the opportunity to be involved either on stage or behind the scenes, creating props, costumes, etc. and bringing a story to life. Churchill Primary School's participation in Wakakirri is part of our Performing Arts Program on a biannual basis. Our participation in Wakakirri will be every second year.
